We like the actual LG BD630 Blu-ray for our property. The LG BD630 Blu-ray has been an amazing type of equipement. While it is a basic looking disc player, the LG BD630 Network Blu-ray Disc Player’s looks are deceiving. It comes with a simple on/off button and the standard play/pause, stop and eject buttons. A USB slot is on the right side, and in the middle is the disc drawer. The layout and tiny footprint is only part of the story for this nice player. This lightweight player has a remote with batteries included, a basic cable for connecting along with a decent manual. The cable for power is attached, and it comes with a composite video out, stereo RCA audio out, Component Video and HDMI out, a Coax Digital Audio out, and you could connect your home network to a LAN port. As this is a cheap model, you can’t play your video files because it’s not DLNA enabled. In order to do streaming, it should be done with an external hard disk or a thumb drive. Even though available on higher end models, this player cannot do it by way of ethernet connection. You can hook up this player to a typical analogue TV or to a 1080p HDTV. The video outputs adapts to the TV resolution and you’ve got the option to extend the picture if needed. As stated early, hooking up an external drive or a USB thumb drive is extremely easy to do. The device is capable of supporting around four drive partitions and can be formatted in Mac or PC. Setting up the disc player should be fairly easy and quick to do. It does not require much time for the device to load and present the Blu Ray disc. All in all, the up-conversion of DVDs is average at best but nevertheless better compared to early Blu-ray players. It boasts a solid disc tray that goes in and out very easily, with no worrisome noises. This unit works well, particularly with upgrading the firmware. The firmware can be downloaded from LG via LAN port or you can do it via the website and install it via disk or memory stick. It will be interesting to watch if LG is going to continue to support this device when further firmware updates are necessary. The fact that this device can play local media files, can make the retail price an excellent bargain. The cost of this Blu-ray is worth it since it can also do up-conversions of DVD, it’s quick loading and more. The LG BD630 Network Blu-ray Disc Player is precisely what it says it truly is. Though it appears like a great choice, you must review other people’s opinions or blog posts.
